The Wellington Forest Cottages & Conference Centre is a fantastic venue for either Primary or Secondary School Camps.

With 8 refurbished cottages, each sleeping up to 8 people - the cottages are ideally located to enjoy the best of the Bunbury/Wellington Region.

We would love to encourage your school to use the Wellington Forest Cottages & Conference Centre as the launch pad for 2011 excursions.


 

There is so much to see and do around the area - here is an example of what you and your students could do in a 3 day camp.

Day One

10am          Depart School

12 noon       Collie Tourist Mine
Be taken on a tour of this replica underground mine by one of our 'old locals' who can share their experiences of working in an underground coal mine

Lunch
Students can either bring their own lunch or there are plenty of cafe's and take away shops in Collie where lunch can be purchased

2pm          Visit a real working coal mine - Griffin Coal
Go on an escorted tour of this state of the art mine site

5pm          Arrive at Wellington Forest Cottages & Conference Centre
Settle in and give the students a chance to pat or friendly Kangaroos and see if they can spot our rare mainland Quokka's

6pm          Dinner
Have a yummy BBQ dinner with all the trimmings

7.30pm      Sensational Night Life - Department of Environment & Conservation Eco-Education 
Enjoy a guided night walk & experience the forest with a specialist Eco-education teacher


Day Two


7.30am      Breakfast
Enjoy a full cooked and continental breakfast to get the day going

10am-2pm  Wellington Forest Discovery Centre
Enjoy any of the age/curriculum appropriate activities offered by the discovery centre.  Programs range from pr-primary to year 12.
 
                 Lunch
Enjoy a packed takeaway lunch.  Fresh roll with selected cold meat and salad, 1 bottle of water, snack item and a piece of whole fruit

3pm          Dolphin Eco Cruise - Bunbury
The Dolphin Eco Cruise is a 1 to 1 1/2 hour cruise exploring the beautiful waters of Koombana Bay in search of the local Bottlenose Dolphins.  With a very high success rate, you can be comfortable in your knowledge that the dolphins are close by.  The informative commentary and extensive knowledge of these dolphins provides you with an excellent opportunity to view them in their natural environment and gain a greater understanding of their behaviors

5.30pm      Return to Cottages for Dinner



Day Three


7.30am      Breakfast
Enjoy a full cooked and continental breakfast to get the day going

9am          Depart Cottages & Visit Gnomesville
Located just 10min away, Gnomesville is the magical home to over 3000 Gnomes who have migrated there from all over Australia and around the world.  Why not leave a school Gnome as a memento of the camp.

10am          Head Home
Either on the quick Forrest Highway or enjoy the townships of Harvey, Waroona, Brunswick Junction along the South West Highway
